Trait Description
Size / Build Medium to large, very muscular and athletic. Males tend to be larger than females. Bengal cats often weigh around 8–15 lbs (≈ 3.6–6.8 kg) though some may be larger.
Body shape Sleek, lithe, with strong limbs, agile; long body, relatively long legs. Good for climbing and jumping.
Coat & Patterns Short, dense coat (though some long-haired/cashmere variants exist). The coat patterns are one of the most striking features: spots or rosettes (like a wild cat), or marbled. They also have a “glitter” effect in some coat lines, which gives a sheen or sparkle in light.
Colors Standard colours include brown spotted, silver, snow, seal sepia, seal mink, etc., depending on the registry and breeder.
Eyes / Head / Ears Eyes often almond-shaped, rimmed darker, can be green, gold, yellow depending on coat; head with high cheekbones; ears typically small to moderate, slightly rounded at tips. Tail thick, tapering.

Personality & Temperament

  • High Energy & Activity — Bengals are very active, playful, and energetic. They enjoy climbing, jumping, exploring.

  • Intelligence — Smart cats. They can learn tricks, figure out puzzles, enjoy interactive toys. Some owners say they are almost “dog-like” in being trainable.

  • Curious & Bold — Bengals are confident, curious about their environment. They often investigate anything new, love to explore.

  • Social / Affectionate — They often bond with their owners, enjoy company, though they may also have independent streaks. Not usually “lap cats” in the sense of being ultra passive, but many love attention.

  • Vocal / Expressive — They may meow, trill, chirp; communicate needs or play.
